Buddy

Buddy the Snow Angel

A couple of months after moving into my first house, I decided it was time to fulfill a lifelong dream of getting a dog. After researching many breeds, I decided on a Boxer and contacted a woman in New Bunswick who at the time did Boxer and Pug rescue. She sent Pam Keddy who is involved in small dog rescue to my house to do a home check and Pam brought along a video of a Boxer/Staffie mix who was currently residing at the Bide Awhile shelter. After viewing the goofy dog's antics on video, I decided I had to check him out and went to the shelter the next day. When I met Buddy, it was love at first sight! He was in excellent physical condition and in great spirits thanks to the care he was receiving from the shelter. I immediately filled out an application for him and waited impatiently to hear whether I had been approved or not. When I got the news that I could come pick him up, I immediately dropped everything and rushed over to get him.

Since that day I have cherished every hour I get to spend with my best friend. We initially became involved in flyball as an outlet for his energy and now compete in agility. Buddy recently achieved his Agility Dog of Canada (ADC) title after only three trials and we look forward to many more years of competing. We also practice competitive obedience and hope to eventually enter that ring as well. Buddy is the reason for many of the friendships I have developed over the past few years and has been my rock through many of life's ups and downs.

I am selfishly happy that his first parents gave Buddy up because he was too much dog for them to handle. To me he is just right! Buddy currently resides with his cat Laker and chihuahua Sachel, both adopted from the Metro SPCA.
